Barnes & Noble NOOK Reader (color)

Here we go: Barnes & Noble is trying to outperfom the Kindle competition by upgrading their Nook, which is now boosting a full color display and some other new features. We will have a list of features below but the main question we have is B&N was able to put a stop to some of the negative things that were mentioned in the “Normal” Nook review, such as multiple shut-downs of the device for no apparent reason or the lack of costumer service. As there are no comments on this from B&N… Read the full review

It also comes at an affordable price and what sets it apart from the Kindle series is its night reading capability, which of course come at the price of shorter… Read the full review

HP Touchpad Tablet

The HP Touchpad Tablet Computer is something of a special device when it comes to E-Readers or Tablet PCs, as it doesn’t run Android or IOS, both of which are currently dominating the tablet market. Where Apple with it’s IPad has the market leading position when it comes to devices themselves, Android is by far the most used OS in the tablet arena, although it is of course spread over a huge number of devices. HP has decided to go a different way by using the former PALM OS called webOS, an operating system… Read the full review

BeBook Neo

From Endless Ideas in the Netherlands comes the new edition of their BeBook device, which is called Neo and is supposed to be the binding factor between the Kobo and the Kindle. Visually very much alike, there are some important differences between the three E-Readers, which you can already read from the press release. After our successful models ‘BeBook One’ and the pocket sized ‘BeBook Mini’ we collected suggestions from our customers and packed them into a new attractive eReader. Viewsonic VEB 620

Viewsonic’s VEB E-Readers are up for graps now, of course over shadowed by the hype around the Apple IPad. This will make it extremely difficult for Viewsonic to get enough awareness out in order to make the new device a success, but if you are looking for a good E-Reader this might actually be the right device for you. ViewSonic’s latest eBook is a thin, light and versatile device measuring less than 11mm thin and weighting less than 0.26kg, that can be held comfortably in the palm of your hand. The ViewSonic eBook… Read the full review

Amazon Kindle (Ad supported)

. Amazon announced a Kindle version which will be ad supported and offered at a lower price point, showing ads of companies like Visa or Buick on the Home screen and when the screen saver is turned on.The Hardware itself will be unchanged, however since the ads will be likely to alter the user experience we are devoting a separate post for this to gather your comments and opinions. The Kindle E-Reader is still one of the best dedicated E-Readers out there, so it goes without saying that it is a smart move to lower the… Read the full review

Pocketbook 701 IQ

The Pocketbook 701 IQ is a tiny little E-Reader which is supposed to fill the gap for on-the-go E-Readers with people who think the Kindle is too big for their taste. It comes with a 7-inch color display with a decent touchscreen, however to use it as an E-Reader is a bit tricky due to it’s very bright display, which causes the eyes to strain after a while. In general all E-Book formats and File Formats work on the device, at least we have not found anything not working. The only limitation is the fact that due… Read the full review

Velocity Micro Cruz Reader

Velocity is a fairly new player in the E-Reader game and has come out with a very nice to look at, Android based E-Reader with a wealth of functions which are supposed to dwarf the Kindle series. With full support from the Borders book shop this E-Reader provides you with a colour, drag and drop book store to surf through and boosts a full colour user menu, which makes choosing a book a breeze. The only thing which we thought was negative was the somewhat small screen, which might push you towards the Kindle DX again…. Read the full review

Dell Streak 7 4G

. The Dell Streak is the new tablet from Dell and it runs on Android 2.2, which is a slightly older version the one used for example in the Motorola XOOM. The main difference here is the size, with the Dell being a bit smaller and more compact than the Motorola, but with a beautyful user interface and everything needed to place it right there in the top of currently available Android tablets. What follows is of course the Dell service, which is reknown among computer users around the world, especially business users. What… Read the full review

Sharper Image Literati

Alright, let’s start with the verdict: This must be the worst E-Reader we have tested so far. But let’s start with the specs: The Literati runs on the Kobo platform, with the big difference that it has a colour screen and supports backlight, which in theory should make reading more enjoyable in the dark. Is it runs on the Kobo platform it is also connected to the Kobo bookstore, which currently boasts around 100.000 books plus a couple of free ones. We thought the main upside of the Literati was the design though, as it… Read the full review
