Amazon Kindle

The Kindle is now available for a cheaper price and in different colour options. Click here for all specifications. Things have not changed much though, although theKindle 3 now boosts 50% better resolution and comes in shiny graphitecolour for everyone who is not crazy about the old white. The Kindle 1 has already been a big success for the company, being a first mover product and thus collecting lots of profit. So, how does the Kindle 3 review compare to the first model and what are the actual improvements? The… Read the full review

Apple IPad (incl. Video)

The Apple IPad tries to be a bit of everything, which is why we also regard it as an E-Reader, even though of course it is much more than that. Depending on where you stand in your opinion about Apple you were either counting the days to the official announcement OR you were tired of the hype about yet another Apple product, however one thing you cannot deny is the fact that the Ipad is just beautiful to look at. However (And this is the first however, followed by some more below), as it tries to be everything at the… Read the full review

SKYTEX Primer

The Skytex Primer is the purest E-Reader we have come across since the Kindle and it comes with a couple of things the Kindle is still struggling with. First, it has a colour display which might be something users are looking for right now, especially those who are after a full PDF reader or want their Newspapers with colour pictures in it. Secondly it has a really good text-to-speech functionality, which the Kindle also has but with a somewhat weaker quality level. Here is an excerpt from Skytex’ press release. Yes, it’s… Read the full review

JWF eReader-4000

. The JWF eReader-4000 is an E-reader currently reserved for UK users. It’s an incredibly affordable eReader with a nice design, user interface, vivid 7″ colour screen, and the opportunity to expand the already generous 4GB memory capacity via a Micro SD card slot (max. 16GB expandable). At first look – the JWF appears to be a great looking eReader just like all the others on the market. Not until you switch it on is when you notice the difference. You are greeted by a crisp looking colour menu, with a vast array of content. The… Read the full review

Asus Eee Slate

. The Asus Eee Slate is definitely a beauty. So much so that most of the people around us were asking if this is the next generation Ipad, which by any standards can only count as a compliment. The Asus tablet runs on Windows 7, which is change from most tablets which either run on Apples IOS or Android. However Windows 7 has been called the best Windows of all times and in our opinion this is definitely true. While playing with the Asus the things that stick out most are the extremely fast reaction times whenever… Read the full review

Apple Ipad 2

. Now that Android 3.0 tablets are finally hitting shelves and the BlackBerry PlayBook and HP TouchPad are getting ready for battle, the tablet war is finally heating up. But here comes the iPad 2, which is not only thinner and lighter than its predecessor but also adds a dual-core processor and dual cameras. So is Apple still one step ahead of the competition? The price at least is right! The Pro’s:   Ultra-thin design: The iPad 2 is the MacBook Air of tablets. Weighing 1.34 pounds and measuring 0.34 inches… Read the full review

Motorola XOOM

. The Motorola Xoom is hitting the market at a whooping price sans any carrier subsidize for the 3G version with the WiFi model a bit cheaper. This pricing puts the 32GB Xoom nearly on par with the 32GB iPad. Both tablets ask $600 for the WiFi-only version while the 32GB 3G iPad is just slightly less at $730. Of course that’s for the first gen iPad, with things likely being slightly different for the iPad 2, when it comes. Apple’s price points could stay very similar to the current model, but the storage level could… Read the full review

Viewsonic G-tablet

. The Viewsonic G-Tablet is again not a pure E-Reader but more an allrounder, more comparable to the Ipad than it is to the Kindle. The first thing that is remarkable about this device is that it features an incredibly fast Android system, which makes playing around with it even smoother that on an IPad in our opinion. The Screen itself is crystal clear and has a lot of contrast, which of course drains the battery faster than in a Kindle (calculate with approx. 7 hours here vs. 4 weeks with the Kindle at moderate… Read the full review

Herotab C8

The Herotab is an Android tablet which is supposed to double as an E-reader through the Kindle Android app. The problems we have seen with this setup are obvious: 1.) The Kindle App obviously uses the screen the tablet provides, not the Kindle E-ink display which is made for E-reading and nothing but E-reading. Reading a book on a computer or tablet screen is simply awful when you do it over an extended period of time. 2.) The app also, at least in our opinion, is not as quick in loading books and… Read the full review
