I was there when they presented it and took a long look at it. Personally I think its quite useless when you compare it to the Daily edition. Because, to be honest: Isn’t the whole purpose of a Reader that you can use it on a daily basis and possibly use it as a Newspaper aggregator? For that purpose the Pocket is not nearly big enough and I would recommend to go for the Daily edition!

I owned the 505 and after careful review made this my primary choice for upgrade, the touch edition is a little too hard on the eyes, but by far this one has a much better contrast, it is also less grainy then the 505 making the screen seem more vibrant.
If you read novels this is the way to go, if you want to view large scale documents like pdfs or newspapers then the daily edition is the right choice.
I convinced my friend to get one and at $199 price point it is a no brainer, I just wish they had some better colors then navy blue silver or pink.

I think that e reader technology is not developed yet. Readers are too expensive, have too few options and are difficult to buy unless you order it online. It seems that it will take a few more years until this technology is mature for a massive consumerism.

The Sony Reader PRS300 is fantastic for what it is supposed to do. It is a book reader. It’s small and portable, much like a thin paperback. It allows one to simply read books. I like the fact that it has no bells and whistles to slow it down. It is a book replacement and does that very well.

It is a great tool for those who simply like to read books. I carry mine everywhere with me in order to have a book to read in those moments of downtime we all experience every day, whether in line or waiting in traffic. Also at night as I unwind from a hectic day sitting in front of the fireplace, wow it is great. If you want to carry an e-reader that washes the dishes you may want to up-grade, but if you simply read for the pleasure the Sony PSR-300 is a great choice. I would think the price of the PSR-300 and the download of about ten books equal what you spend every couple of months on 10-15 books. The rest of the year is lagniappe.

I have the PRS-300.I enjoyed the reader once I got use to it. It fits nicely in my hand bag, easy to carry to appointments and outside when I want to relax in the sun. I like that the screen doesn’t fadeout in indrect sunlight. That being said. The original reader (PRS-300) I had lasted about 6 months Customer servuce was a real hassle. I took several calls to customer service being passed around to more knowlegeable service rep. eaach call before I was authorized to received a rebuilt model for replacement. To receive the replacement I had ti ship my non functioning reader to Sony’s service center at my own expense. Pay 29.99 for the rebuilt model which took nearly a month to receive after several additional phone call to hurry the process along. I have now had the replacement just over 6 month and it is now having the same issues as the first wht the screen displaying only on half the screen, the screen flickering or a blank page. I have decided that I will now forgo the hassle for the second time around since I was told by sone that If it needed to be replaced again I would be total at my own expense since they don’t warranty the rebuilt models.

I have only had my reader for a little over a year.I’m glad I got the extended coverage on it.For the first six months I really didn’t use it much.then i got more into it and loved it. It was kind of a hassle having to plug it in to computer to charge it and to download books onto it.But over all I was happy with it.Then all of the sudden it decided it didn’t want to charge up any longer. So hear I am with what i thought was an investment into my love for reading, turning out to be a throw away item after a year of light use.I am talking about four books. If I had used it allot then it would not have lasted 3 months. Now I am left with not being sure what to do.I could go to customer service at the store i got it at and get a new one.Or I could get the money back $138.96 plus tax,and get a kindle for $120.00.The only thing holding me back is that I have two books I have purchased from the Sony library plus $18.00 balance from a gift card.I am starting to regret getting into the world of ereading.

The PRS 300 is useless. DO NOT BUY. I had one, that packed up after a year. I got my wife one the following Christmas (about 6 weeks before mine started playing up), she couldn’t get on with it so let me have it. It’s a year old and guess what….it’s on the fritz!
The blurb says it can hold 350 books. Oh no it can’t! I’ve found that both machines started acting up when they had 40+ books on them.
it cost be £58 to get the first one repaired, it packed in after another month. Sony wanted another £28 before they would even look at it!
I feel it’s a total waste of money. Seriously considering going back to real books. They don’t break down, they don’t need re-charging.
