It seems that the mobile e-book reader mania is slowly, but surely engulfing the entire world. Thus, after the unveiling of the iRex iLiad and of Sony’s own e-book reader, yet another company joins the race, namely eRead from China, who’s presenting what they’re considering to be the world’s lightest and thinnest mobile e-reader, the STAReBOOK.
As most products from this developing family, the STAReBOOK uses the latest E-ink (electronic ink) technology, which allows the users to enjoy a reading experience very similar to the one attained while reading a normal book. The display is very wide (6 inches) and the device can also deliver a very good resolution (800 x 600 pixels, 4-level gray scale).
Moreover, the device is quite sleek (88 x 118 x 8mm, 176 grams), has a pretty accessible control layout and also supports MP3 playback, so that the users will be able to create a very personal reading atmosphere, seasoned with their favorite music.
Another very interesting fact about the STAReBOOK is that it’s not at all power hungry, one charge of its internal Li-ion battery allowing the user to read more than a thousand pages. It’s also important to mention that users can only access content loaded onto SD/MMC memory cards, this being the only type of slot fitted onto the STAReBOOK.

Not a very good reader, actually quite inferior to the Kindle. Don’t buy, not reccomended!

This is a really bad reader, absolutly not recommended! First of all the quality of the screen is rubbish, it actually hurts your eyes. second the price is quite high when you compare it to the latest Kindle offer, so there are a lot better alternatives to choose from!
To my knowledge this is actually not available in the US yet as far as I know?
