Skiff Reader

The Skiff Reader has been the big head turner at the CES 2010, and rightly so. It’s flexible, great to look at and probably has the most intuative user handling we have ever seen. Just think interactive newspaper and you get the picture. Here is a review, mostly from engadget, which gives you an idea about just how beautiful it is. We had a chance to sit down with the team to go hands-on with the 11.5-inch e-Reader. As a device, the near final prototype was big pushing an impressive 1,600 x 1,200 resolution — enough to… Read the full review

Samsung Galaxy Tab

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is certainly not your usual E-Reader, for one because it is one of the smallest tablets in the market. It reminds more of a giant Smartphone. However, there certainly is a niche for this, especially when it comes to mobile browsing and also reading works quite well on the device, especially if you are just looking for a device to use on the go or on your way to work. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is the first major tablet release since the Apple iPad launched. It’s been a long time coming, too. The Galaxy… Read the full review

French company Bookeen introduces their fourth-generation electronic book reader, the Cybook Opus. It has a foot print of 4.2″ x 6″ x 0.4″ inches and weighs 5.3 oz (150g), which puts it 0.5 oz more than an iPhone 3GS. It features E Ink electronic ink with 12 font sizes, 4-level greyscale and a 200 dpi display. The e-book reader also includes handy applications: a memo pad, scheduler, calendar, world clock, calculator, and contact list. HP Touchpad Tablet

The HP Touchpad Tablet Computer is something of a special device when it comes to E-Readers or Tablet PCs, as it doesn’t run Android or IOS, both of which are currently dominating the tablet market. Where Apple with it’s IPad has the market leading position when it comes to devices themselves, Android is by far the most used OS in the tablet arena, although it is of course spread over a huge number of devices. HP has decided to go a different way by using the former PALM OS called webOS, an operating system… Read the full review

Ectaco Jetbook E-Book Reader

With all of the hullabaloo over the Amazon Kindle 2’s recent release, one might think that there were no other eBook readers on the market; not so! Those who eschew DRM protection and who can do without the convenience of an online content store (I’m thinking of Amazon’s and Sony’s, specifically) should pay particular attention to the Ectaco jetBook, a reading device capable of handling .txt, .pdf, .fb2, .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, and MP3 file formats. This pricing puts the 32GB Xoom nearly on par with the 32GB iPad. Both tablets ask $600 for the WiFi-only version while the 32GB 3G iPad is just slightly less at $730. Viewsonic G-tablet

. The Viewsonic G-Tablet is again not a pure E-Reader but more an allrounder, more comparable to the Ipad than it is to the Kindle. The first thing that is remarkable about this device is that it features an incredibly fast Android system, which makes playing around with it even smoother that on an IPad in our opinion. Pocketbook 701 IQ

The Pocketbook 701 IQ is a tiny little E-Reader which is supposed to fill the gap for on-the-go E-Readers with people who think the Kindle is too big for their taste. It comes with a 7-inch color display with a decent touchscreen, however to use it as an E-Reader is a bit tricky due to it’s very bright display, which causes the eyes to strain after a while. IRiver Story

While not exactly a household name, iRiver can usually be relied upon to cook up a quality product that’s a little different from the norm. Entering the e-book reader market with the Story, this all-white device looks a lot like Amazon’s Kindle. On more careful inspection its obvious the similarities are simply down to the colour and the presence of a full Qwerty keyboard below the 6in electronic paper screen, rather than any shared heritage. Velocity Micro Cruz Reader

Velocity is a fairly new player in the E-Reader game and has come out with a very nice to look at, Android based E-Reader with a wealth of functions which are supposed to dwarf the Kindle series. With full support from the Borders book shop this E-Reader provides you with a colour, drag and drop book store to surf through and boosts a full colour user menu, which makes choosing a book a breeze.   Alright, let’s start with the verdict: This must be the worst E-Reader we have tested so far.
