Here we go:

Barnes & Noble NOOK Reader (color) ereader reviewsBarnes & Noble is trying to outperfom the Kindle competition by upgrading their Nook, which is now boosting a full color display and some other new features. We will have a list of features below but the main question we have is B&N was able to put a stop to some of the negative things that were mentioned in the “Normal” Nook review, such as multiple shut-downs of the device for no apparent reason or the lack of costumer service. As there are no comments on this from B&N (please point us into the right direction if you know of one), we will assume that they will try harder on the new generation of the Nook.

Barnes & Noble NOOK Reader (color) ereader reviewsAnyway, here are the features. Our favorite feature is the ability to slide through children books, which is something you will love if you have a little version of yourself at home. Unfortunatly they also tend to love to play with electronics, so maybe get a plastic casing… Barnes & Noble NOOK Reader (color) ereader reviews

To be totally honest I am not sure if the color screen really ads something, as Reading is not better or worse because you have color or not. What counts is the resolution and this, as I see it, has not changed. Also you mention rightly that B&N did not do too well on the consumer service side, so they really need to step up in order to deliver this time.
However from the device alone I think the Nook is one of the best for that kind of money.

I agree with the poster above me, the device was very good before (at least from experience and I had one for around a year now), but the service level is just not even close to Amazon.

Having owned both a Kindle 2 and a Nook, I can safely say that the Nook has been the more dependable device. Amazon was quick to send a replacement for the Kindle when the display failed, but the replacement wouldn’t power up. We received a third Kindle, but were charged full price for it. I can’t recommend Amazon service for those kinds of mistakes. Barnes and Noble has been flawless with the way they tutored my husband on usage of the Nook. I’m about to gift the Kindle to a relative, and buy a Nook color!

I love my new color nook and the color is good for me as I read magazines on it too. I have borrowed ebooks from my local library and am very happy about that.

I needed some support so I went to the B& N website and emailed for help and had a response with in a couple of hours that answered my question.

I would recommend it to anyone looking for an e-reader.

Here is my problem….the device I used at the store is great. Wanted to order one. I have been the line with customer service for 23 minutes. They are telling me the order was declined, then the system is backed up by more than 3 weeks and their solution was to create another account and attempt to download the book again? If the server is already backed up then it makes no sense to make another account and order the book again to clog up the server even more….or am I crazy? Why in the world would it work for an account created today when it wouldn’t work for an account created 3 weeks ago? Won’t the same clog happen only worse??? I want the device but not the headaches of customer service persons who dont’ have a clue.

I’ve had my Nookcolor for a month and a half now, and it’s been a joy to use! The web browser is excellent, the games are addictive, Pandora is a nice bonus. But of course the book reading is the most important part, and that’s been the best of all (I did think after a couple of weeks that I might have gotten a defective nook because it started turning pages at random, but then I discovered that I just needed to give the screen a quick wipe with a clean cloth every coupday or two — voila! No more phantom page turning). Two things I’d say in response to negative issues posted here: The $ value is actually great for a minitablet (you can officially forget about the overpriced ipad) — if all you want is a dedicated ereader, then you can find cheaper alternatives. Also, if you need great customer service, go to your local B&N store! When I had a question, I got incredible, hands-on service from an employee in the store — no awkward, confusing telephone conversations (sorry Amazon) or long hold times. My only complaint about Nookcolor: B&N needs to stop delaying and open an app store already!!

I have a wifi nook and I just purchased the nook color,I love the nook color and do agree with the above writer B&N needs more apps. The regular nook battery does not last me more than 4-5 days and is a little heavy for me when reading in bed,I wish I had purchased the kindle for a ereader.
Customer service on phone and in store has been great (replaced battery).

Hi -
I don’t own one of these yet, but I have spoken with Customer Service. I had several technical questions and compatibility questions. Customer Service was wonderful. I could not have asked for more prompt or caring service. So whatever the customer service issues had been, they seem to be gone now. They even have a separate line just for NOOK Color issues.

I enjoyed my Nook, I Love my NookColor, mostly for the magazines and vivid colored pictures in them or of the covers of books. The reading is about the same in my mind between the two, though the backlit nookcolor allows me to read in bed at night with out a nightlight needed. Being able to check my email, facebook, and randomly surf the web has also been a benefit. LOVE the lend me app and being able to see what my friends have out there available to lend over asking. I really can’t say anything negative about it, I have had no bad experiences with it and hope I don’t.

Hi, I am comparing available e-readers and the Barnes & Noble NOOK Reader (colour) has caught my attention. I live in South Australia, Australia..you know, the land down under and I am wondering if this device is available here in Oz. If yes, where can I purchase one from?
