The Asus Eee Slate is definitely a beauty. So much so that most of the people around us were asking if this is the next generation Ipad, which by any standards can only count as a compliment.
The Asus tablet runs on Windows 7, which is change from most tablets which either run on Apples IOS or Android. However Windows 7 has been called the best Windows of all times and in our opinion this is definitely true. While playing with the Asus the things that stick out most are the extremely fast reaction times whenever an input is given to the tablet, as well as the slick design which really draws attention. However this could also be the price, which is waaay up there.
No this is of course not a pure E-Reader, is it more a very portable computer tablet and it comes with everything you need for this purpose, including a full set of adapters and connections as well as bluetooth keyboard. The fact that it runs on Windows has the upside that wherever you go it basically functions just like your “old” computer, meaning that it automatically recognizes beamers, external discs and so on.
However Windows also means that you do not have as many Apps to choose from as, say, the Android market would provide you with. Given that this is not meant as a private device as much as it is for business, we would however say this is not what people will be looking for when buying the Slate anyway.
Overall this is a stunning device for a stunning price, and given that there are tablets in the market for half the price it will probably only appeal to a very selected user group.

Awesome device, althought I would put it more into the computer corner than the E-Reader corner.

Way Too Expensive!!! Asus is trying to compete with 2 worlds – laptop and ipad – Way expensive than ipads – if you would compare with laptops – you can get the same price for a macbook pro ( which is already an expensive end on the laptops )
